Interim Digital Communications Manager

A Communications Manager is required to be accountable for delivering the internal digital approach for employee communications and engagement, in support of the client’s strategy and vision.
This role will see you delivering and developing strategic digital internal communications and engagement, maximising return on investment in existing channels and enhancement of existing and delivery of new channels using appropriate new technologies.
Key responsibilities:
- Development and execution of the Employee Communication and Engagement plan for digital channels, in partnership with each business area's lead communications manager and relevant product managers (where applicable) in Technology & Data (T&D).
- Business owner for the intranet consolidation project, working closely and collaboratively with T&D and other identified project stakeholders.
- Business owner for the three existing intranets (Source, LU intranet and Insite), acting as arbitrator for content and development requests to ensure that real estate is used effectively and reflects the company vision and priorities.
- Business owner for Yammer (enterprise social network), including associated governance and first-line support.
- Own, manage and educate the community of digital channel content editors/group administrators.
- Champion the effective use of digital communications tools as drivers of engagement throughout the organisation and a way for the business to self-serve their internal communications requirements.
- Develop standards and governance for digital channels/tools and applications to meet legal, business and users’ needs.
- Support, guide, and coach the Employee Communications & Engagement team on how to maximise value out of the digital channel/tool offering as part of their communication plans and campaigns.
- Oversight and accountability for ensuring completion of all administrative and contractual tasks relating to digital channels/tools.

Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in English, journalism, technical writing, or digital field.
Experience:
- Experience of the development of productive relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Experienced in defining and implementing metrics and measurement of digital channels.
- Experience of implementing digital communications strategy in large organisations.
Knowledge:
- Strong IT technical knowledge and understanding.
- Strong understanding of social, user-generated content approaches to support employee engagement.
- Knowledge and understanding of internal digital users’ need and requirements.
- Knowledge of standards and legislation regarding web-based content (W3C, Equality Act 2010, Freedom of Information Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 1998 etc.).
- Detailed knowledge and experience of managing digital content platforms.
- Knowledge of new web technologies and their use in corporate environments.
- Knowledge of the organisational experience, alertness, and sensitivity to identify potentially inappropriate information, requests, situations, or usage of communications.
- Good knowledge of effective communications and engagement strategies and techniques across face-to-face, print, and broadcast communication channels.
Skills/Technical skills:
- Results-driven and solutions-orientated, with a focus on flexibility and creativity.
- Project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to interpret and communicate complex information.
- Strong personal accountability.
- Proven track record of creating and deploying employee communications and engagement channels, programmes, and campaigns with a measurable positive impact on employee engagement and business performance.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across all levels including senior leadership.
- Practical commercial use of content management systems, web coding, photo and media editing, Microsoft Office and content management systems.
