Interim Communications Officer – Learning & Development

CTC Vetting required:
This role is for a leading London Police organisation, candidates with current CTC/SC clearances will go through their vetting processes, currently this is taking up to 6 months. If you are already in a contract that potentially is not ending for a few months and this role is of interest, do let us know, we would be happy to discuss further.
Hybrid role
An experienced Communications Specialist is required to join the Learning & Development Communications and Engagement Team. The post holder will have a pivotal role to play in directly supporting the organisation’s commitment to developing a culture of learning where everyone can thrive and where everyone is encouraged to learn from experience, from others and constantly strive to improve.
Candidates will have strong track record of managing, developing and delivering successful and innovative communications, campaigns and digital content. Highly developed communication and engagement skills are essential with an ability to shape communications plans and deliver high quality engaging products for a range of audiences to tight deadlines.
Key accountabilities:
- Create, maintain and deliver communications strategy and plans, mapped to key stakeholder needs, in support of the strategic objectives for Learning & Development.
- Create clear compelling narratives and messaging to drive engagement across the organisation.
- Produce a range of collateral targeted to different internal and external audiences for a variety of formats and channels this will include the creation of professional PowerPoint presentations for various governance boards, the production of internal newsletters, intranet and digital content. This may also include editing of videos
- Ensure that organisational branding, guidelines and communications standards are adhered to.
- Actively seek and monitor effectiveness of communications, and ensure feedback is incorporated into future deliverables.
- Be aware of and actively seek out external insight / research / best practice and new ideas to help drive the development of digital communications practices and processes and continual improvement.
- Support colleagues in interpreting and translating their ideas and objectives, drawing upon communications expertise, to advise on and deliver the most appropriate content style and products to effectively convey those ideas and deliver key outcomes in an engaging way.

Knowledge
- Strong track record of managing, developing and delivering successful and innovative communications, campaigns and content for a range of channels, including digital content.
- Demonstrable knowledge of multiple communication tools and channels, and which one to use to effectively deliver against communications objectives and outcomes.
- Knowledge of communication disciplines – existing and emerging – and their application and how they operate together, including knowledge and current practices, tools and techniques.
- Skilled in proactive and creative approaches to developing communications strategies, plans and delivery - ability to deliver pragmatic solutions.
Experience:
- Working with a wide variety of stakeholders of all levels and the ability express ideas and views persuasively.
- Extensive experience of designing and delivering communications; translating strategic objectives and messages to relevant and effective content for a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences.
- Relevant experience of creating content using a variety of communications methods and channels to achieve communications objectives.
- Excellent communications skills; engaging written and verbal as well as presentation skills.
- Proven ability to produce clear, compelling and engaging communication products, with the ability to adapt style to different formats and audiences.
- Ability to project manage from start to finish, work under pressure and deliver multiple complex communications deliverables to high quality and tight deadlines
Skills:
- Excellent communications skills; engaging written and verbal as well
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide communications advice and use specialist skills and experience to influence stakeholders and plans to meet desired outcome
- Ability to interpret briefs and liaise with colleagues, drawing upon extensive knowledge and experience, to advise on the most appropriate content style or product, always striving to achieve a successful outcome.
- A ‘can do’ attitude is vital, with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be responsive/flexible to changing business needs.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment, including co-working on projects, co-developing ideas giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Excellent IT skills and level of creative design knowledge including:
- MS Office and PowerPoint to produce highly creative PowerPoint decks and brochures.
- Knowledge of full Adobe Creative Suite including Acrobat (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign desirable).
- Intermediate/advances skills in Adobe Acrobat Professional, particularly creating PDFs that are print ready.
- Photography/videography and basic video editing skills (desirable).
