Interim Collection Officer

To carry out visits to a wide variety of customers in relation to Welfare Benefits and the provision of chargeable Adult Social Care Services
Key Responsibilities:
- To visit new or existing clients or their representatives to provide a holistic service in respect of all elements of Welfare benefits and chargeable Community Care Services.
- Remain up to date with all relevant changes in legislation and Council policy
- To maintain good working relationships with other operational staff, other Departments
- To identify any other benefits to which a customer may be entitled
- At peak times, to carry out other duties as required that are reasonable and commensurate with the post, in order to assist with the smooth running of the team
“Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:
- Educated to A level or equivalent with a good level of numeracy and literacy
- Excellent knowledge of Welfare Benefits and social care regulations
- Knowledge of Council policies and procedures, particularly Equalities and Health and Safety
- A minimum of 5 years experience of assessing welfare benefits or making financial assessments in a social care environment
- Experience of delivering a customer-focussed service as above to clients on a face-to-face basis
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulations and procedures clearly and concisely
- Information Technology skills for utilising the Internet, Intranet and Microsoft Office packages
- Able to display sound judgement in stressful situations when dealing with challenging customers
- Ability to manage time effectively, work with competing priorities and make appropriate decisions having considered all the relevant facts
