Temporary HR Support Officer/Admin – Human Resources

Hybrid working
The purpose of the role is to deliver effective, high quality administrative support and customer service (to both internal and external customers) to the Council’s Human Resources functions in response to the varying work flows and changing priorities across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR support activities including recruitment administration, managing job advertisements, generating contracts of employment, contractual changes letters, starter and leaver processes, attendance and the preparation of information packs and other paperwork.
- Provide first line support to employees and managers by phone and by email for HR enquiries and provide basic advice and guidance in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Developing and maintaining accurate records in line with data protection requirements via HR Management Information System, spreadsheets and personal files including DBS data and safeguarding, as well as running reports as required from the HRMIS and other databases.
- Supporting the wider HR team in the preparation of information packs, reports and other paperwork, taking notes at meetings, etc.
- OD and Learning support requires coordinating attendance and course bookings, setting up and managing training courses/events/activities via room booking, catering arrangements, ICT, liaising with trainers, delegates and presenters, room set up and close down, meet & greet at Management Practice Groups and other corporate events.
- Equalities programme support including data monitoring, event support, communication.
- To manage First Aid, membership and periodic renewals across the Council, ensuring they are completed within required timescales.
- Provide administrative support for the Council’s Occupational Health service.
- Update and maintain the HR information management system, including running reports and utilising the systems capability to make processes more robust and efficient.
- Support the payroll team as required.
- To work flexibly within the service area and corporately to undertake any other work and career development opportunities as required commensurate with the requirements of the grade.

Qualifications:
- 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade C or above.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of working in an HR or training environment providing administrative support.
- Working as part of a team in a customer focused environment
- Experience of providing first line advice and guidance to managers and employees.
- Knowledge and experience of using HR management information systems.
- Knowledge of key employment policies to provide first line advice and guidance.
- Able to support HR Advisors and HR Business Partners in employee meetings and on projects as required.
- Effective organisation skills in order to work to deadlines and manage own work load.
- ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
