Temporary HR Adviser - HR Advice & Consultancy

The Team requires an experienced HR Adviser to deliver a comprehensive range of HR services and provide advice and support to managers and staff on the application of HR policies and procedures to ensure that the Council/organisation adheres to best practice and current legislation.

To act as a first point of contact in providing operational HR advice and guidance to managers and staff and to communicate sensitive and at times complex information to managers and all staff covering a comprehensive range of HR services.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management or HR Degree or Level 5 HR Apprenticeship.
  • CIPD Chartered Member status (MCIPD) desirable.

 

Experience & Knowledge:

  • A sound working knowledge of a range of policies and management procedures.
  • Previous experience of working within an HR environment.
  • Up to date knowledge of current employment law and ability to apply it practically to workplace situations

 

Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and translate detailed legislative information.
  • Ability to judge and analyse appropriate courses of action when advising managers and staff.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload to meet conflicting and competing service needs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to use organisational skills to prioritise workload and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with managers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst working to tight deadlines.
  • An effective advocate for the HR service and organisation both internally and externally.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
