Full Job Title: Temporary Housing Options Officer – Housing & Resources

An experienced housing options officer is required to work in a team of 3 officers to provide housing options and advice to prevent homelessness for Ukrainian Refugee Guests. The team work with local housing options teams and the council.
To inform customers who contact the Council about their housing circumstances about housing options available to them.
To assess applicants’ circumstances in accordance with the Council’s Lettings Scheme and register applications as required.
Developing personal housing plans with customers to achieve a positive journey / outcome.
To collect and collate data about applications and the activity on the housing register.
“Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:
- Minimum of 12 months recent housing support experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation
- A sound knowledge of legislation, current national housing policy issues
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with homelessness legislation, convey it to an applicant and offer appropriate advice and support to ensure they are not homeless.
- Able to develop and maintain relationships and networks within and outside the Council
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral with an ability to present information clearly in a way that promotes understanding. This will include experience of interviewing and negotiating.
- Excellent customer services skills and experience of working in a customer orientated service
- Experience of assessing customers circumstances for access to services
- Proven ability to work with customers to resolve issues
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages
