Temporary Health and Safety Auditor - Infection, Prevention and Control

Pay Rate: £14.98 per hour PAYE
Based within the Corporate Health and Safety Team the post holder will be expected to work independently to achieve engagement with the wider Adult Social care providers to promote high standards of IP&C across the sector.
You will also be expected to promote and deliver high quality audit activity and report / escalate any problems to the Health and Safety Team Manager and the Acting Community Lead for IP&C.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the wider DCC/ CCG IP&C pilot by undertaking IP&C audits, data collection and maintenance of accurate records.
- Feedback results of audits in a timely manner to DCC Commissioning, NHS partners and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) where required.
- Promote a safe environment and IP&C standards by modelling best practice and always following infection control policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate and use negotiation skills to ensure service providers effectively utilise IP&C standards across the adult social care sector.
- Accurate records are kept securely, reflecting Information Governance principles.
- Support colleagues with the delivery of training, coaching, and mentoring such as, back to basics training with adult social care providers and signposting adult social care providers to agreed IP&C training.
- Contribute effectively as a member of the multi-professional team, building and maintaining appropriate relationships and actively participates in regular team meetings.
- Work in an effective way and maintain a safe environment by always following health and safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge/Experience:
- Infection prevention control post graduate qualification or similar and/or experience working in an IPC team for minimum of 2 years.
- Awareness and understanding of sensitive information, always ensuring strict confidentiality.
- Experience of auditing.
- Experience of mentoring staff.
- Experience of monitoring environmental factors of IPC in the clinical environment.
- Experience of developing standards, guidelines, and policies.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
Skills/Technical skills:
- Able to recognise and challenge IP&C practice that is unsafe/ or does not reflect policy.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
- Excellent organisation and managerial skills.
- Able to motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to delegate and prioritise workload.
- Computer literate including MS 365, electronic healthcare records.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Ability to educate and train others.
- Ability to cope with unpredictable working and work to deadlines.
