Our client is looking to hire a Financial Investigation Officer, for approximately 12 months.
A contractor is sought to assist a recently trained Financial Investigator through a confiscation investigation. The contractor will be based in the Financial Investigations Unit in East Midlands (Derby).
Current FI and confiscation accreditation is not required however contractors will need to have significant experience of working on POCA confiscation investigations and therefore candidates will have had FI and Confiscation accreditation previously.
Whilst the Contractor will be based in a single location with a focus on the confiscation investigation, there may be a need to travel for meetings with CPS and Court attendance. Whilst the predominant focus of the Contractor’s role will be providing support to the confiscation investigation, there may also be the occasional request to share their POCA knowledge with FIs across multiple CFI locations. Most of this can be done via MS teams / Skype however occasional travel may be required.
Hours of attendance will be confirmed on appointment however they will align with business requirements and core office hours i.e., Monday to Friday, 0700h to 1700h.
Minimum Requirement:
- Experience of conducting financial investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
- Experience of conducting confiscation investigations and taking them through the associated Court hearings is essential whilst experience of cash detention, part 5 (civil recovery), listed assets and account freezing order investigations is desirable.
- Experience of drafting summaries / statements in criminal and civil proceedings and attending Court to give evidence.
- Experience of analysing complex financial data and the presentation of such in an evidential format for Court and the completion and service of financial orders.
- Experience of applying the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 in criminal investigations.
- Mentoring/ training experience
