Full Job Title: Interim Finance Officer – Corporate Services

Pay Rate: £36 per hour PAYE for an exceptional candidate (Please note that the pay rate for this role is likely to be uplifted to reflect a higher than standard holiday allocation).

This role is hybrid or fully remote. Preferably, the successful candidate will have either qualified in or will be studying towards the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification.

The successful candidate will help the Capital Officer with settlement work and coding compliance checks on the council's finance system (SAP). The candidate will also provide financial/admin support to other sections of the Corporate Finance team when required.

 

Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualifications: AAT qualified or equivalent or relevant IT qualification - desirable
  2. Knowledge & Experience:
    1. In depth knowledge of working in a Local Government finance environment
    2. In depth knowledge of working in a systems development/administration environment
    3. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse data.
    4. Substantial knowledge of the requirements of data protection regulations.
    5. Knowledge of project and change management principles, and techniques and how to apply them.
    6. Experience of managing and analysing complex and sensitive data and ensuring the data is available for stakeholders to use.
    7. Experience of designing, implementing, and producing management information reports from data systems.
  3. Skills & Abilities:
    1. Ability to work independently within a department or business unit and responding to requests for support.
    2. Ability to communicate persuasively to inform and generate acceptance with other officers, translate technical concepts and information into more accessible language for non-specialists, and to advise and guide others.
    3. Ability to prioritise workload according to deadlines, risks and benefits.
    4. Ability to supervise the work of others, and plan for projects, upgrades and developments, and responding to requests for support.
  4. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
