The purpose of the role is to provide technical support and development for the IT Directorate and Avon and Somerset Constabulary. The post holder will provide professional and technical expertise and analysis within their specialism of Applications, Databases, Voice, Networks, Data Centre, Security, Servers, Radio and End Users within the IT Directorate.
Key responsibilities:
- To work within a designated team and across virtual teams as necessary.
- Provide a service that will include the administration, maintenance, development, installation, configuration and support of all devices, infrastructure and applications for the IT Directorate. The delivered services will operate to agreed performance standards, governance and ITIL practices.
- Provide technical knowledge to a range of technical support and development services.
- Service monitoring, pro-active prevention and associated maintenance.
- Fault diagnosis and resolution.
- Undertakes various technical activities and asset management.
- Liaison with third-party suppliers, agencies, departments and other parties.
- Provision of technical advice and guidance and testing.
- Understands and complies with use of all standard procedures and ITIL processes.
- Create documentation and deliver training packages.
- To technically support the organisation and support the IT Directorate services and products to meet the needs of the force.
- Work and recommend on an agreed range of performance outcomes, to pro-actively recommend service improvement measures. To undertake developmental or remedial actions as directed in response to review or business feedback.

Qualifications:
- Educated to Level 1 or above and/ or equivalent experience.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience in relevant technologies.
- Experience of customer service skills especially a pro-active approach to solving problems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, preparing reports, statistical information and data returns.
- Good time management skills with an ability to complete tasks within timescales Desirable.
- Experience of working in an IT Environment.
- Training will be given, candidates must have excellent administration and Excel skills.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly using Microsoft applications including Office, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
