Pay Rate: £39,564.00-£42,585.00 per annum, depending on experience

This is an opportunity to join the Construction, Maintenance and Facilities Management (CMFM) department. You will provide a maintenance duty for the commercial building plant at the civic centre. Candidates must have excellent knowledge on commercial Electrical plant such as Motors, switch panels, power distribution units/boards, emergency lighting. Candidates must also hold good record keeping on maintenance documentation for when jobs are completed and have good time management to prioritise works correctly.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain the mechanical plant while delivering reactive breakdown works where required to help support the buildings functionality and providing the best possible comfort and experience in the building.
  • Proactively deliver maintenance to planed schedules to prevent plant breakdowns.
  • Log all works correctly and where required keep paperwork documentation of tasks to ensure good records are kept on site.

Essential requirements:

  • City and Guilds 2330 Electrical Installation.
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma Electrical Installation.
  • 17th or 18th IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Contractual awareness within compliance of maintenance assets.
  • Understanding of SFG 20 framework in accordance to maintaining commercial property electrical plant.
  • General knowledge of building maintenance systems and how they operate.



  • PPM and Reactive maintenance of the commercial buildings plant. Working in an office environment and within a building of a similar size (10 floors) and age (over 50 years).
  • Maintenance programmes utilising a programme of works for planned maintenance within a team of engineers.
  • Working on aged commercial plant and to planned schedules to ensure compliance and SFG20 requirements are met.
  • Overseeing contractors and contracted work to ensure best standards are followed.
  • Working in a team to conduct Electrical maintenance and solutions for reactive breakdown works.


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of commercial/financial acumen within repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to engage, coach and motivate teams and set clear targets and expectations within repairs and maintenance.
  • Evidence of high levels of customer service and satisfaction within their work.
  • Experience of successfully working well within a team environment and work together where required to complete repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to advise the plant team and management on electrical problems and solutions.
  • Knowledge of ICT capabilities to meet business needs. Minimum – MS Word, Excel and email (Outlook).



  • Experience in pneumatic systems.
  • Experience of maintaining cooling towers.
  • Awareness of compliance legislation.
  • 2394-95 electrical testing and inspecting.
  • IOSH managing safety.
  • Level 3 NVQ electrical installation.
