Completing Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments- one for every 2 days pay. Prefer locums who can work face to face with children and young people. Provide an applied psychology service to schools, early years settings, families, young people, the community and Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority. Implement strategies and techniques that are grounded in psychological and educational theory and principles in order to promote inclusion and maximise the achievement of young people.
Contribute to multi-agency partnerships to ensure locally based and effective working for children, young people and their families. Support schools and early years settings in meeting the requirements of the new SEND legislation and the related local authority policies and procedures. Contribute to the effectiveness of the local authority in implementing local and national strategies, policies and practices. Contribute to school improvement ensuring support for schools identified by Ofsted or the LEA as causing concern
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a consultative service underpinned by an interactionist perspective, to a local community of schools and early years settings in the identification, assessment and support of children and young people with additional and special needs
- Promote the use of research and evidence based practice across the localities in order to promote change within individuals and groups through the application of psychological knowledge of child and adolescent development and specialist knowledge of special educational needs
- Contribute psychological advice to Education Health and Care Plan assessments of children and young people
- Ensure commitment to equal opportunities and antidiscrimination policies in practice
- Support schools and early years settings in meeting national and local targets in raising pupil attainment, promoting emotional health and wellbeing and reducing exclusions
- Provide training to schools, settings, parents, carers and other staff in order to support their capacity to meet the needs of children and young people with additional needs
- Promote local implementation of key LA strategies and policies
- Support schools working in challenging circumstances or in OFSTED categories; attending and reporting at review and project groups where appropriate
- Keep up to date with the latest research and evidence based interventions in order that Cheshire West and Chester remains innovative and forward thinking in its approach to delivering positive outcomes for children and young people
- Contribute to meeting the performance indicators for the Psychology Team

Qualifications:
- Post-graduate professional qualification in Educational Psychology
- Honours degree in psychology or equivalent (conferring graduate basis for registration with the BPS)
Knowledge:
- Consultation models and techniques which contribute to effective outcomes for children and young people
- Current educational policy and practice particularly linked to areas of responsibility in the Job Description
- Safeguarding and child protection frameworks
- Relevant legal and scrutiny frameworks
Experience:
- Successful experience of completing research activities and projects
- Successful experience of collaborative and partnership working within a multiagency context
- Reviewing, monitoring and evaluating performance against agreed targets
Skills & Abilities:
- Good interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively with a range of people and agencies
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people both orally and in writing
- Ability to analyse and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data and report findings clearly and succinctly
