The Market Management Team is offering a six-month opportunity for a Commissioning Support Officer. The Personal Assistant (PA) and micro-provider market is a key market which helps people live independently at home for longer. The team use to contact a large number of PAs who may be able to support and care for people who are able to take a Direct Payment. The ‘PA shout out’ process has proven extremely successful in helping people find support from a PA. Community teams, and the families and individuals they support, are making good use of the process to help people who need urgent care and those who are awaiting care, via a Multi-Disciplinary Team review process.

The post holder will be liaising regularly on the phone, email or Teams with operational colleagues (Social workers, Arranging Support Teams), PAs and the general public/ recipients of Direct Payments. Candidates need to be a skilled in ICT, a good communicator, organised and learn at a fast pace. They will be capable of representing the team at operational meetings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the administration of the ‘PA shout out’ process.
  • Support the administration of the PA WhatsApp groups, fortnightly PA market Zoom meetings and the PA Facebook page.
  • Support the administration and delivery of the Direct Payments steering group work plan and meetings.
  • Support PAs with access to PPE and infection control guidance.
  • Support the administration of the PEN newsletter and PEN website for PAs (and for all markets from time to time, to provide cover for annual leave etc).
  • Manage and administer shared mailboxes and distribution lists for PAs (but also for other markets from time to time, to provide cover for annual leave etc).


“Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:


  • Minimum of 12 months recent administrative experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Experience of operating in a structured project and programme environment (desirable).
  • Health and Social Care experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the commissioning process.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
