Pay Rate: Up to £570 per day pay range subject to IR35 status
Location: Non Negotiable, Offices are London, Manchester, Bristol – 2 days per week.
JOB INFO:
A Cloud Optimisation Engineer is needed on a contract basis for approximately 6 months.
You will support a Central Digital and Data Office which leads the digital, data and technology (DDaT) function, for a government team.
Existing security clearance is not a prerequisite but will always help
What you’ll do:
- Help establish best practices and basic cloud environment hygiene principles to ensure that government is optimising its cloud estate effectively and coherently
- Work with government departments to ensure that they are adopting best practices and principles
- Work closely with the DevOps engineer responsible for FinOps processes to ensure coherence and consistency across optimisation in operational
processes and reporting - Understand and consider the impact of sustainability in technology decisions
- Stay up to date with the latest roadmap and technologies being developed by governments key cloud and hosting providers
Who you are:
- Demonstrable experience optimising cloud native architectures
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing tooling for Cloud optimisation
- Experience in operating and managing cloud capabilities at an Enterprise level.
- Demonstrable experience working with traditional 3-tier (and similar) application and monolithic architectures
- Strong understanding of the 7 R’s of cloud migration
- Understanding of common cloud Error, Logging, Monitoring and Alerting (ELMA) tools
- While you are not likely to be expected to write code, being able to read and understand its intent would be desirable. Such languages might include python and powershell, but also declarative language commonly used for cloud deployment templates such as JSON
- The ability to influence both technical and commercial colleagues
- Direct experience in FinOps – Led an optimisation team
- Experience with the Tooling Sets
- Azure & AWS – Experience
