The post holder will be part of a strong, innovative, and dynamic Performance and Data Team providing high quality business intelligence across all areas of Children and Young People Services (CYPS), including data from partner agencies such as Health. They will take a leading technical role in the development and integration of CYPS and partner data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist technical and professional advice to the service and customers
  • Carry out research monitoring of data and reviews of local and national policy and best practice
  • Use SQL Server Reporting tools to create and develop complex SQL scripts using the systems data warehouse to produce and maintain user friendly reports and dashboards that display complex performance data to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ensure good financial management to meet budgetary targets
  • Handle customer complaints

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills

  • Post Graduate Certificates and Diplomas with a considerable breadth and depth of knowledge across the relevant specialist area, or a range of areas or evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.
  • Experience of working within a performance management framework in a large organisation and have practical knowledge and understanding of data driven service improvement.
  • Extensive, proven experience in the development and extraction of data from data bases using SQL and presenting and sharing data using tools such as SSRS, Visual Studio, Power BI, Business Objects or Tableau.
  • Data warehousing and data integration experience using SSMS and SSIS would be advantageous.
  • Substantial experience in writing free hand SQL scripts to extract and translate complex data

  • Good writing skills to enable the preparation of clear and accurate reports and to deal efficiently with general correspondence
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally & in writing to a wide range of people
  • Ability to organise own workload to meet targets & deadline
  • Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Able to travel to different locations
  • Ability to utilise a range of ICT systems and applications.
