Temporary Business Analyst – IT Services

Pay Rate: £18.83 per hour PAYE

Hybrid working - Normal working hours will average 37 per week or will be pro rata. This will be worked subject to the needs of the service and may involve shift, night, weekend and public holiday working.

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.

The purpose of the role is to use a range of processes including undertaking reviews, utilising interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions, cases, scenarios, and business analysis, to map the processes of our business. Identify process and efficiency improvements including the full mapping of ‘to be’ processes including the implementation and training needs analysis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business and strategic requirements and map these to current and future processes.
  • Contribute to business case development through measuring and analysing the cost of business processes.
  • Contribute to problem solving activity through supporting the investigation and analysis of potential root causes.
  • Work with functional leads to transform and develop requirements into design through to implementation planning.
  • Support the procurement of solutions provided by 3rd parties through the development of functional specifications as appropriate ensuring that new processes and practices are documented in an appropriate manner.
  • Analyse operations to understand strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities for improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and draft proposals for evaluation by appropriate users and managers.
  • Design and monitor testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested following implementation of new processes or practices.
  • Design mechanisms to baseline and monitor business benefits contributing to business cases and benefits realisation plans.
  • Present to both small and large audiences new processes to obtain business sign off.

Qualifications:

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience at a senior level.

 

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. Extensive experience of mapping ‘as is’ business and technological processes and developing and documenting these to the ‘to be’ business process.
  3. Experience assessing and gathering the business requirements for allocated projects, producing documentation in a recognised format that is fit for the purpose for both facilitating effective business sign off and also for technical use by IT development teams.
  4. Experience of stakeholder engagement.
  5. Experience of providing, receiving, conveying and presenting highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to large groups.
  6. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
