To lead and manage in ensuring all buildings within the scope of the role are safe and compliant in accordance with legislation, policy, and strategy 

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • To lead, develop and effectively manage staff and resources in managing building safety and compliance.  
  • Lead on ensuring health and safety compliance including all document management is valid and evidenced including maintaining appropriate Building Safety cases and ensuring conditions the conditions contained within the Building Safety Registration Certificate are complied with  
  • To ensure the Council’s portfolio, including housing stock, and corporate property are compliant.  
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of up-to-date relevant building safety and compliance policies and procedures.  
  • Lead on ensuring all safety and compliance measures are in place for all social housing properties, commercial properties and corporately owned buildings.  
  • Ensure that all relevant aspects of Health and Safety legislation and Building Regulations are adhered to in all circumstances relating to buildings within your portfolio, taking into full consideration recommendations in the revised Building Regulatory regime.  
  • To undertake strategic reviews of approach to compliance management and systems.  
  • Lead on and provide technical and competent person expertise regarding all areas relating to landlord compliance and ensure obligations are met and 100% compliant.  
  • To introduce as appropriate effective systems and new technology to ensure all areas of compliance within the longer-term asset investment programme and to ensure control of quality and costs. 
  • Provide management reports for all aspects of building safety and compliance for the Head of Housing Services and Corporate Management Team as required 

“Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria: 

  • Professional qualification, or equivalent experience, in a Building or Property related field 
  • A relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation 
  • Experience of letting significant contracts and managing and delivering projects within budget and on time 
  • Able to operate independently, managing conflicting priorities effectively 
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team and line manage others, with effective resource planning skills 
  • An ability to manage budgets effectively and able to demonstrate commercial acumen 
  • Able to manage specialist teams, utilising a flexible and resilient approach to workforce planning
