To assist the Allocations and Lettings Team in the smooth running of the Councils Housing Allocations Service and Choice Based Lettings scheme.
To assess the needs of housing applicants according to the Council’s policies and procedures.
To deliver an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.
Duties to include:
- To carry out all functions associated with Waiting List and Transfer List processes. Assessing applications and change of circumstances, and accurately updating associated IT systems and files.
- To assist in advertising & short-listing applicants for CBC & RP properties.
- To record all refusals of offers, updating IT systems and files accordingly and monitoring outcomes
- To respond to routine correspondence in relation to housing applications and the choice based lettings scheme.
- To deal with enquiries and to advise clients regarding the housing register, transfers, and allocations. Both by ‘phone or face to face and referring clients to Housing Officers where necessary.
- To liaise with partners and Registered Providers (RP’s)
- To provide support to the Housing Needs Team
- To assist the Housing Allocations Officer in compiling, monitoring and reporting service performance indicators and customer service standards

- Experience:
- Experience of Housing Allocations, Choice Based Lettings or related work.
- Experience of general office duties including data inputting, typing, record keeping, filing, dealing with general telephone enquiries and written correspondence.
- Experience of working with spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience of analysing data and identifying trends and actions.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Good written communication skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to adopt a methodical and logical approach to dealing with tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a pressured environment to meet challenging targets.
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to produce and maintain accurate case file and system records.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel and the internet.
