Interim Aids & Adaptations Supervisor

To assist the Aids and Adaptations manager to co-ordinate an efficient, cost effective and customer focused Adaptations service with Islington Councils Responsive Repairs. Ensuring the effective delivery of Adaptation building design and maintenance solutions for its clients ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and industry best practices. To develop contacts with partner organisations to ensure that effective working relationships are maintained and developed
Key responsibilities:
- To carry out home visits to undertake preliminary technical inspections and to advise customers and colleagues on reasonable and practicable adaptation schemes to meet the needs of the disabled person.
- To liaise with contractors & co-ordinate asbestos works on site.
- Carry out post visits to ensure all works are completed satisfactory and to the Occupational Therapist / Surveyors specification and brief.
- To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s / vulnerable adults in who you come into contact with.
- To take early corrective action to manage or prevent disputes relating to the partnering arrangement.
- To plan prepare and carry out a programme of customer satisfaction surveys to ensure compliance with standards and to ensure customer satisfaction levels remain high and meeting minimum targets.
- Monitor Contractors performance, contract period, standard of workmanship and materials.
- To deal with internal and external customers and customer representatives in respect of services provided by partners. To assist in the joint development of services ensuring partnerships meet changing aspirations and continue to reflect best practice, including acting as initiator of improvement plans as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with the appropriate regulations and contract conditions.
- To work jointly with colleagues to develop performance monitoring systems to strengthen client role

- HNC or equivalent professional qualification in a building-related subject with a proven extensive experience in building surveying and/or property inspections
- In depth knowledge of building pathology and the ability to accurately diagnose building defects
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the repairs and maintenance housing stock and right to repair legislation to ensure that services are delivered within set guidelines and legal requirements
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety standards relating to building construction environment, including lone working
- Knowledge of working to customer care charter and service standards to ensure the delivery of customer excellence
- Have knowledge of stairlift, hoist, etc
- Experience in providing reports using written and statistical information including MS Word, Excel, Access
- Experience of working with NHF Schedule of rates
- Effective interpersonal skills including an assertive approach and ability to engage and influence others in order to reach agreement
- Ability to carry out home/site visit to produce measured survey and drawing using autocad for O.T's approval
- Able to liaise with Occupational Therapist team and contractors alike ensuring good running of the service
- Ability to work jointly with your peers monitoring contractors performance
