Enhanced DBS required for this role

An Advanced Social Worker is required to manage a caseload comprising of Child and Family Assessments, Child in Need, Child Protection, Child Care Proceedings until permanence. This caseload will have a level of complexity and lead worker responsibilities working alongside other social workers, it will not have supervisory / line manager responsibilities. Social workers should be able to practice restoratively with child and families and promote family led decisions to manage risk and meet support needs. Must be office based for duty but hybrid working is negotiable dependant on the needs of the team (due to the relational approach of the organisation, it is envisaged this will be office based on duty weeks and one WFH home day/compressed hours on non-duty).

Key responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a busy but supportive team and share knowledge and skills to promote the learning culture.
  • Manage a caseload comprising of Child and Family Assessments, Child in Need, Child Protection, Child Care Proceedings until permanence.
  • Undertake a wide range of complex assessments including Community Care and Best Interest Assessments and construct innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Carry out Safeguarding investigations within multi-agency procedures.
  • Carry out risk assessments and identify needs and options.
  • Using a person-centred approach, develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, their families and carers enabling them to make informed choices.
  • Promote independence and early intervention, helping resolve conflict where needed.
  • Contribute to the enhanced screening of new referrals and existing service users.
  • Work in courts with appropriate support to obtain and implement court orders.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to drive and have use of a car.
  • Appropriate social work professional qualification (BSc, BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Recent relevant professional development.

 

Experience:

  • Must demonstrate excellent relational work with children and families and be able to engage children through direct work and child centred practice.
  • Considerable experience working in a statutory setting
  • Planning, managing, prioritising and evaluating work with service users.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Organisation skills and ability to meet competing demands are required to ensure practice standards, good quality and practice and performance.
  • Good analytical assessment skills and with high quality written work.
  • Able to provide a high level of effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service user records, assessments and follow policy and procedure.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
