The purpose of this role is to ensure eligible children receive assessments, plans and service packages appropriate to meet their needs and improve their life chances and to support peers by sharing knowledge and experience that can enhance their learning.

The successful applicant will support with reducing the number of children in care. Therefore, the work can be varied from SGO Part 1 assessments, support plans, Parenting Assessments. Etc. The successful candidate will not case hold, but will work alongside the allocated Social Worker to progress discharges for Children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex cases, ensuring that the welfare of the child or young person is paramount at all times.
  • Serving as the persons primary point of contact, and to be pro-active in developing and implementing safety plans.
  • Carry out assessments and manage child care plans within government and departmental prescribed timescales and standards, as required by the Team and/or Principal Manager.
  • Ensure that children, young people and their families are fully involved in the process of assessment.
  • Ensure that service user records are maintained in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Ensure that the departments and authority’s resources are deployed efficiently and effectively at all times.
  • Responsible for the allocation of appropriate tasks to ASYEs, Apprentices and Social Work Assistants and to provide for the necessary support and guidance necessary for the completion of those tasks.
  • Undertake more complex case work.
  • Provide mentoring and support to others and support group supervision as required by the Team Manager.
  • Responsible for effective time management and responding flexibly to the needs of the service.

Unless the DBS requirement stated above is for a Basic Disclosure, your DBS must be either through us or be accompanied by a subscription to the DBS updating service.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Approved social work qualification: Social Work degree, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
  2. Registration with Health Care Profession Council (HCPC).
  3. Hold or currently be working towards Stage 2 Practice Educator Award.
  4. Undertaken NAAS or willingness to complete within 6 months.

 

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. ASYE + at least 3 years’ experience plus additional supervisory/practice development role/contributing to learning of others
  3. Qualified Social Worker experienced in undertaking initial risk assessment, planned interventions, and updated risk assessments of those perpetrator DV.
  4. Qualified Social Worker/Probation officer experienced in undertaking protective parenting assessments where there is High Risk.
  5. Demonstrate current knowledge of professional social work practices and theories relating to social work.
  6. Extensive post qualification experience including that of a progressed social worker.
  7. Knowledge of social care legislation and guidance and other legislation e.g., Education and Housing relating to children’s social care.
  8. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
