Responsible for co-ordinating and preparing the councils response to ‘Access to Records’ requests, ensuring highly sensitive, confidential information is redacted to ensure that the Council isn’t liable to financial penalties through the breaching of law governing Data Protection
Key responsibilities:
- Within required timescales to collate and prepare comprehensive and accurate responses to a Subject Access Request (SAR) / Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Complaints, in accordance with Merton Council’s Procedures to present the draft response to the Manager / Head of Service for their consent to release the collated data to the Merton Information Governance team. To input data on an accurate and timely basis, and to be aware both of the performance indicators this data contributes to, and of the council’s Data Quality strategy.
- To process subject access requests (Subject Access Rs) within the timescales and principles of the UK GDPR.
- Being aware of safeguarding and other issues within SARs, which require liaison with other services, for example LADO, Legal Services, HR, and referring to these services when necessary.
- Responsible for scanning and indexing records accurately to the Children’s Electronic Records Management Systems
