What's involved with this role:

An Administrative Assistant is required to provide secretarial and administrative support for Building Control Services and supervision of appointed staff through use of the unit Management Information System.

The post holder will carry out a range of administrative duties for the Team with limited supervision, which may involve written, telephone or face to face contact with the public or internal colleagues and the application of organisational procedures and systems.  They will ensure targets and deadlines are effectively and accurately met whilst maintaining a high level of customer service.

You will be expected to have good organisational skills and be able to use IT effectively in implementing tasks.

It is essential to hold a full current UK driving licence and access to a car or have access to a means of transport which would enable the applicant to carry out the duties of the post.

  4. Minimum of 3 years recent office administration experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector
  5. Qualifications: Five GCSE passes at Grade A-C, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  6. Knowledge, skills & experience: ability to ensure targets and deadlines are effectively and accurately met whilst maintaining a high level of customer service.
  7. A full current UK driving licence and access to a car or have access to a means of transport which would enable the postholder to carry out the duties of the post.
  8. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages

 

Other preferable/desirable details to include on your CV, if applicable:

  1. Any local authority/public sector experience
  2. Any relevant qualifications held or being studied for
  3. Five years’ experience, preferably in a construction related environment
  4. A knowledge of the building regulation function and allied legislation
