To manage the relationship with the HR Shared Service, to ensure a high-quality service is delivered and that clear on any changes being implemented that may impact their work.
To work closely with the AD, People and People Function Senior Team to coordinate project plans and delivery for implementing and embedding a shared service, ensuring these are integrated into wider Unit plans, including change and adoption management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in managing the transition to the HR Shared Service and embedding this by developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate and effective systems and procedures, including change management and process/ system adoption
- To manage the performance of the HR Shared Service against the SLAs on an ongoing basis and more formally as chair of the monthly HRSS Performance Review Sessions to ensure the service fully meets the needs
- Lead and deliver sustainable solutions to longstanding issues affecting the service offer including on the provision of the MYHR helpline, data for essential statutory reporting and recruitment service delivery
- Act as a “global process owner”; working across the People Function to identify any changes in People policy and procedures which may have process or systems implications for the HR Shared Service and raise these with colleagues
- Act as a key point of contact for People Function colleagues for escalating potential concerns/delivery issues and manage this, in line with agreed SLAs and the HR Shared Service agreement
- Line manage the HR Co-Ordinator who will support on the leadership of the SAP gatekeeper community, addressing concerns and upskilling the group to become autonomous
- Attend and actively contribute to the People Function SLT fortnightly meetings and act as an ambassador for the SLT and over-arching People Function
- Engage in demand planning conversations with HR Business Services, following input from wider People Function colleagues and informed by the People Strategy and work plans to have a clear work plan
- Ensure managers and staff have access to the information needed to ensure they maximum the benefits of the SS to assist adoption and transition to the new ways of working.
- Act as the lead on conversations about HR Shared Services developments, including any potential technological or service provision changes

Knowledge:
- A thorough understanding of budget management and financial monitoring techniques
- A high level of expertise in the use of technology and a clear understanding of the developing technology available, and an ability to use and develop these to enhance business management within the unit.
Experience:
- Significant experience of providing project support services in a fast paced, complex and high-profile organisation, working independently and using sound judgement on sensitive issues.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing systems and procedures to enable the delivery of effective support services and experience of finding solutions to problems and complex situations that may arise.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strategic thinking and strong planning skills: Understanding the bigger picture and how workstreams align and where interdependencies exist is key as you hold that overview of activity and progression
- Leadership: Be responsible for at least one FTE and will be a part of the People Function’s SLT
- Relationship Management: Manage a wide stakeholder network across and with the core shared services team. This will, at times, require delicate handling and you will also feed into presentations which will be discussed at People Board which is attended by the Chief Officer
- Problem Solving: Have a natural desire and enthusiasm to provide solutions to complex challenges
- Strategic thinking and strong planning skills: Understanding the bigger picture and how workstreams align and where interdependencies exist is key as you hold that overview of activity and progression
