Pay Rate: Up to £164.72 per day pay range subject to IR35 status

Location: 50-75% in Schools in the NW of Ireland, the rest remote. The candidate will be required to travel extensively throughout the North-West region of Northern Ireland.

The successful candidate will be required to have access to a suitable vehicle (appropriately maintained and insured for Education Authority business) that will enable them to carry out the mobility requirements of the post in an efficient and effective manner.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct on-site school surveys for network cabling and ICT hardware capacities.
  • Undertake desktop review of Permission to Work (PTW)/Wayleave information and site surveys to ensure adequate information is included and provide feedback as required.
  • Undertake technical review of proposed cable routes, taking into consideration the capacity of existing containment and wireways (e.g. conduit/ trunking), existing mains power cabling, firebreaks and potential asbestos.
  • Liaise with school sites to arrange suitable appointments for visit including joint visits with suppliers.
  • Attend weekly on-line progress review meetings.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Have an HNC / HND or equivalent in Building Studies, Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline with a minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience in a building maintenance or construction related discipline OR
  • Have an ONC or equivalent in Building Studies, Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualified experience in a building maintenance or construction related discipline OR
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Building Maintenance or an Estates Management role in the education sector.
  • A working knowledge of IT networking and cabling infrastructure.
  • A working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety regulations in relation to Building Maintenance. Experience as a CDM co-ordinator would be advantageous.
  • Experience in liaising with and reviewing the work of contractors.
  • Experience of surveying buildings, preparing maintenance programmes, preparing specifications and procuring contracts to the required legal standards.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of professionals and experience of participating in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in the use of ICT in the context of Estates Management information systems. A qualification in AutoCAD would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate a broad working knowledge of Building Maintenance issues with sound management techniques and strategies to problem solve and use own initiative;
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and high level interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrate the ability to contribute as an effective member of a team and to manage teams effectively.
