Temporary Interim Project CAD Operator - Mechanical & Electrical

Pay rate: £218.62 per day PAYE
To be council’s lead on Building Information Modelling (BIM) including creation of BIM models and AutoCAD drawings from site survey to completed computer models with all relevant COBie. To cover essential works including BIM works relating to a new Town Hall and supporting the statutory works for FM.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, manage and deliver efficiently all of CAD/ BIM drawings models required for Technical services Team or client projects from M&E redesign/ replacement of services through to building alterations and extensions.
- Manage and oversee the collation and coordination of COBie data on behalf of the Facilities management Service.
- Manage the allocation of space in corporate buildings in order to drive efficient building utilisation by a process of space design and negotiation with Directorates to produce a “best fit” footprint aligned with the occupancy standards and SLAs.
- Support the Technical services Team Project leads with production/ revision of CAD drawings or BIM Models and quantity take offs for pricing on schedule of rates.
- Provide updated CAD drawings and to commission surveys and drawings from a variety of sources as required by client departments capturing time and costs for recharge.
- Implement corporate space and occupancy standards in the planning, CAD drawings, building layout plans.
- Have a detailed and established knowledge of UK building regulations and their application to the construction process and the aspects incorporated with in the duties of this role.
- Provide technical support to the wider FM department for the use of BIM, CAD and COBie software systems providing internal training and support as required.
- Deliver efficiently all of CAD drawings and space planning layouts to enable accommodation projects and minor works programmes to be delivered in line with accommodation strategy.
- Produce, review, and implement effective procedures and create drawings, BIM models and COBie datasets to integrate BIM, CAD and CAFM systems to support planned maintenance and reactive repairs to create an “Intelligent Helpdesk” function capable of supporting the management and delivery of a variety of multi-disciplinary FM operations.

Qualifications:
- HND in a relevant subject such as architecture, construction, civil engineering.
Experience:
- Extensive experience of having worked in a building, mechanical and engineering office environment as a CAD operator or BIM operator.
- Highly experienced in using AutoCAD software and producing work to a high level.
- Highly experienced in using BIM software like Rivet and Navisworks and producing work to a high level.
- Experience of using a computer software platform for coordination, scheduling, programming, file sharing and collaboration on construction projects.
- Experience of using a computer property management system, CAFM system like TF Cloud or similar software.
- Experience of developing length and quantity take offs for material ordering or pricing against Schedule of rates.
- Experience of running interference detection on BIM Models to detect design clashes to assist designing of services by Mechanical and electrical engineers.
- Experience of assisting project teams with visualisations.
- Previous experience in a surveying role.
- Experience of a wide variety of Software packages to facilitate workflow in position e.g. Sketchup, 3DS, Photoshop, Excel.
Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of CAD (computer-aided design) software.
- Design and computer/CAD skills.
- Experience of the use of 3D CAD.
- Expert knowledge of all features of AutoCAD (including 3D) up to & including 2019 – proven & demonstrable skill & experience (12+ years). Expert knowledge of all features of Revit (including Revit MEP). 6+ years practical experience of using Revit to model a variety of building types on a daily basis.
- High level knowledge of Navisworks for Coordination, clash detection and presentation.
