Location: Fareham 1-2 Days a week.

The Senior Analyst will join a current project which is responsible for translating emerging, potential science and technologies into meaningful ‘Futures outputs’ that can be further explored or exploited across the team/organisation. These outputs need to be translated in a way that communicates the context, opportunities, threats and implications, as well as being appropriately tailored to stakeholder priorities and interests. You will join a team of people to help the organisation with a range of analytical and engagement activities across the project.

You will provide an expert professional contribution and have significant experience of undertaking and leading defence analytical products and teams in a range of analytical areas and domains. This would include linking the strategic intent with the day to day activities at a project and programme level across a range of studies. You would need to take a systemic view across projects, departments, capabilities and domains and support others to achieve and maintain the highest levels of delivery, which focus on benefits realisation.

You will be an organised and experienced defence analyst, with the ability to work across the Programme and to understand, translate, and promote emerging science, technologies and concepts to appropriate stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead/support the emerging trends work, including collating and completing material, updating existing documentation, scheduling meetings, building and maintaining relationships across the programme and beyond.
  • Support the development of Futures ‘Cases for Change’, the key emerging concepts and hypotheses.
  • Building relationships across the Programme to anticipate requirements and demands.
  • Communicating outputs from the key tasks to priority stakeholders.
  • Assess information, identifying and explaining patterns (especially convergence and divergence between different sources).


Key Requirements:

  • Ability to work across and cohere the two main tasks (trends and topics translation) and ensuring the outcomes develop together
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to emerging requirements is an essential part of the role.
  • Previous undertaking of defence analysis at significant depth, along with experience of working across a range of domains.
  • A numerical / scientific / technical degree is highly desirable and professional operational analysis / operational research qualifications are also highly desirable, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of undertaking defence analysis in a range of domains
  • Security Clearance: SC Sole UK National
