Location: remote – some travel to Leeds/London on a ad hoc basis.

This role is initially for 2/3 months with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

A Project Co-ordinator is needed to join the PMO within the Procurement Transformation and Commercial Delivery team.

The fundamental purpose of the team is to support the health system in England to improve the quality, efficiency and value of its commercial and corporate services.  This will be primarily achieved through reducing unwarranted variation in service delivery of corporate functions; and, improving the commercial performance of the system, including generating income.

The vision of the existing portfolio is to modernise and rationalise commercial functions in the team, by working collaboratively.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To reduce unnecessary variation, for example through supporting trusts to act on benchmarking and price comparison
  • To improve the effectiveness of corporate services delivery, for example through transforming the target operating model to increase consistency, collaboration and delivery at scale and lower the cost of corporate services delivery by a cumulative minimum of £0.7bn by 2024
  • To support Supply Chain Coordination Limited (SCCL) to grow their market share to 80% by 2022.
  • In order to achieve these ambitions the Directorate has an exciting array of programmes consisting of its
    Procurement Target Operating Model (PTOM) Programme, Sustainability Programme and a number of other initiatives which seek to best support the health system to improve the quality, efficiency and value of its commercial and corporate services. This role supports the vision and objectives of our Directorate through facilitating the transformational change required to reduce unwarranted variation and improve quality,
    efficiency and value.
  • To work across a number of exciting projects in providing rounded project support to the existing PMO.
  • To work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service of support for managers and staff across the Programme, ensuring that engagement opportunities, stakeholder management and programme and project activity is well organised and coordinated to enable delivery, and that governance is effectively organised for the teams.
  • Providing secretariat and project support to key meetings and events, ensuring they are effectively coordinated, delivered and evaluated.
  • Being a key member of the team in supporting effective communication and stakeholder management, both internally and externally.
  • Undertake complex and detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of concentration.


Key Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Able to participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives which may be highly complex, sensitive, political, and contain contentious information with the aim of providing information and analytical advice to the teams.
  • Previous experience of communicating information, risks, issues and dependencies, including briefings and reports to project teams, sponsors and a range of internal and external staff
