Role: Contracts Manager – Major Infrastructure
Contract Length: anticipated 12 months
Location: Berkshire – 3 days on site / 2 days at home. Potential other ad hoc (expensed) travel
Our client is looking to hire a Contracts Manager.
As the Contracts Manager you will have at least five years’ experience working in a similar role and experience of Major infrastructure programmes.
A Contracts Manager is required with preferably Project 13 experience, along with a good understanding of new build projects / Construction £100m +. A background of wider commercial experience would also be beneficial, along with the Construction background (Commercially leading / handover process / construction issues associated with this).
We are looking for a Contracts Manager with broad experience of large public sector programmes like the Olympics, Nuclear New Build, Cross-Rail, Water programmes, National Grid, Petrochemical, that was also capital investment focused.
As the Contracts Manager you will have the following responsibilities:
- Drive and support wider business Category Strategy to deliver cost effective category solutions and business models.
Supplier base management and supplier classification (Preferred Supplier List – PSL), securing competition in the supplier base. - Cost Intelligence, benchmarking and market insight to support efficient and productive project delivery.
- Prepare & execute the RFx process in collaboration with stakeholders including supplier evaluation and selection, supplier negotiations (costs and contract).
- Contribute to the long-term business ensuring competitive initial cost and total cost development in the product and service life cycle and maintenance of the specific supplier contract for products and services.
- Prepare and execute a Contract which is appropriate to the scope, value and risk outlined in the sourcing strategy, ensuring all relevant stakeholders have contributed and approved as appropriate.
- Lead contract risk and opportunity strategy, ensuring effective risk reduction meetings and actions are completed.
- Administer the Contract in accordance with all of the terms and conditions ensuring contract compliance.
- Ensure appropriate management of commercial risks, forecast spend and change impacts with key stakeholders.
As the Contracts Manager you will have worked in a similar role and will have the following skillset:
- Major infrastructure programme experience
- Experience of capital investment focussed programmes
- New build projects / Construction £100m +
- Wider commercial experience beneficial
- Construction background – Commercially leading / handover process / construction issues associated with this
Security Clearance: SC highly desirable; candidates with active SC clearance will be fast-tracked.
