A Business Support Safeguarding Co-ordinator is required to provide a comprehensive support service to the Adult Safeguarding Service which includes the Safeguarding in Partnership Team. To ensure that the Council discharges its statutory responsibilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide support in specialist duties associated with the Care Act 2014 by supporting the Senior Safeguarding manager and the Safeguarding Team Manager in the coordination of the Safeguarding referrals and safeguarding in Partnership Teams’ operational work. Support professionals in undertaking their roles within their specialism and legislative practices.
- Receive, acknowledge and record referrals from the Let’s Talk Team and other professionals within agreed timescales.
- Ensure accurate recording of Multi agency complex panel meetings as requested by Senior Safeguarding Manager or Safeguarding Team Manager and effectively minute daily task and allocation meetings in line with practice and policy and provide accurate and affective diary management to the Senior Safeguarding Manager and the Safeguarding Team Manager .
- Provide support to the service including word processing reports and other correspondence as necessary and process completed referrals and prepare completed documents.
- Assist in the organisation and provision of support in relation to the service area including maintaining records, responding to and answering queries (including by letter), gathering information where required from referrals and contacts and maintaining office systems.
- Undertake the management of manual and computerised records/management information systems, including the analysis, manipulation and production/presentation of reports, escalating any issues regarding accuracy and inconsistency of information where appropriate.
- Ensure all information about individuals is handled and stored confidentially and securely in accordance with the Council’s policy, the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulations.
- Provide advice, guidance or signpost staff, public etc. with regard to internal policies/procedures and external regulations/legislation.
- Ensure that office equipment, stationery and other office consumables (including basic maintenance) are ordered in accordance with purchasing procedures.
- Undertake financial processing activities such as processing of orders and invoices (incoming and outgoing) and assist with promotion and marketing activities.

Qualifications:
- Educated to A Level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
- ECDL/CLAIT or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of safeguarding frameworks, processes and procedures as well as managing complex cases and implementing a range of interventions.
- Demonstrable experience of undertaking complex assessments including risk assessments.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
- Experience of building relationships with community service providers and working in effective partnership to improve outcomes for individuals
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation applicable to safeguarding for example the Homelessness Reduction Act, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policy developments, best practice and current trends.
- Thorough understanding of the roles of different agencies and how they work together within an adult safeguarding framework.
- Minute taking skills and experience are essential for this role.
- Ability to form effective working relationships with staff across the range of partner agencies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise manner to a range of audiences.
- Ability to collect complex information where it has been drawn from multiple sources and may be conflicting or incomplete which will lead to an information decision on referrals.
- Ability to develop and use a structured approach to gather and record information and interpret that in the context of safeguarding need.
- Demonstrable ability to write clear concise reports.
- Effective decision making skills which may involve considering risks.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative to ensure that the many time specific demands are met.
- Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
- Able to work outside of office hours as required as required.
- Full current driving licence or access to a means of mobility support.
