A Business Support Officer is required within the reunification team which will include a range of duties across the kinship service. The role will require the ability to work to deadlines, process panel work and compile robust responses to assessments. To contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of front line and/or technical/professional services and functions through the provision of a regular, specified range of clerical and business support services.
Key responsibilities:
- Administrative responsibilities to support the operation and development of business activities.
- Operate consistently within Business Support policies, procedures and practices along with supporting the continued development of innovative ways of working.
- Process, format and assemble documents, records, information and data. Manipulate information and undertake routine analysis to produce reports using IT skills and a range of technology.
- Reception and telephone duties to provide information and support to other Council departments, employees, partners, service users and the general public.
- Support business processes linked to the corporate information systems e.g. finance, people and archiving processes. Monitor stock levels to ensure they are adequately maintained.
- Moving and handling of a wide variety of items including lifting of bulky items within appropriate health and safety procedures.
- Arrange key corporate/statutory meetings - preparing routine draft agendas and taking minutes/action notes.
- Driving of courier van as and when required to deliver post to a variety of locations and maintenance of the vehicle within Council procedures.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of level 2 National Qualifications and Credit Framework in business support or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Literacy and Numeracy skills to level 2.
- Successfully completed a business support and/or administration apprenticeship or trainee scheme desirable.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of delivering general clerical/administrative support activities and/or maintaining office systems.
- Experience of processing panel work desirable.
- Knowledge of codes of practice and operating procedures both general and service specific e.g. data protection, confidentiality, information security.
- Knowledge of office systems, routines and processes.
Skills:
- Ability to understand rules, protocols and procedures.
- Clear oral and written communications including social media.
- Ability to plan and prioritise tasks and activities.
- Adaptable to change and new working practices.
- Ability to processing panel work.
- Able to work to deadlines.
- Minute taking skills and experience are essential for this role.
- Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
- Driving licence.
