A Senior Dev Ops Engineer is needed on a contract basis for approximately 2 months. This role may be extended for the right candidate.
You will be a Senior Developer who has working-level expertise of the public core of the internet.
As the Senior Developer in the Domains team you will have significant responsibilities in developing and supporting the platform that delivers the team’s domains monitoring service, and so help public sector organisations stay in full control of their digital identity and internet-facing digital assets.
You will be part of a team directed by the Lead Developer (the technical product owner) and you will work with the Monitoring Platform Service Owner, who maintains the specification and roadmap for the service.
Existing security clearance is not a prerequisite but will always help.
What you’ll do:
- The development of significant components of the platform and provide operational support for the service when required.
- The service: Gathers and merges information from public and third party sources, some of which is in near-real time
Performs automatic or human-assisted tests on the data to identify vulnerabilities - Is secure and protects data with strong authentication and access controls
- Support decision making, case management, campaign management and customer relationship management
Provides facilities for rapid alerting of high priority issues - Makes the data available, appropriately secured, via API or similar for third parties
- Generates comprehensive management information and monitors key performance indicators
- Contributing to a roadmap for improvements to the platform, and acceptable progress against that roadmap, for example to:
merge in new data sources- speed-up decision making
- develop the API to support external stakeholders
- develop prototyped elements into supportable elements.
- Maintaining good design, development and deployment documentation for the platform.
- Maintaining good software development practices and adhering to the Service Manual
Who you are:
- Information security. You can understand information security. You can design solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered with mitigation of security threats as a core feature. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
- Programming and build (software engineering). You can collaborate with others when necessary to review specifications. You can use the agreed specifications to design, code, test and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity, using the right standards and tools. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
- Service support. You can demonstrate a breadth of understanding of service support. (Relevant skill level: expert)
- Systems design. You can design systems characterised by medium levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity. You can select appropriate design standards, methods and tools, and ensure they are applied effectively. You can review the systems designs of others to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
- Systems integration. You can define the integration build. You can coordinate build activities across systems. You can understand how to undertake and support integration testing activities. (Relevant skill level: practitioner)
